Description

A delightful twist on the classic green bean casserole, infused with fragrant herbs and rich garlic flavor for a fresh appeal on your holiday table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Blanch the fresh green beans in boiling water for 3-5 minutes, then transfer them to an ice bath.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic, and sauté until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine heavy cream, vegetable broth, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  4. In a baking dish, combine the blanched green beans, sautéed mushroom mixture, and creamy concoction. Top with crispy fried onions. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

For a healthier option, use low-fat cream or a mix of cream and Greek yogurt. You can prepare the casserole ahead of time and freeze it until ready to bake.
