Description
A delightful blend of spices, hearty vegetables, and protein that provides warmth and comfort for gatherings and family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cans (14 oz each) diced tomatoes
- 2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth or water
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground meat over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks until it’s no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper to the pot and cook until the vegetables are tender and fragrant (about 5-6 minutes).
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well and pour in the beef broth or water.
- Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Notes
Chili tastes even better the next day as the flavors deepen. Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, or avocado.
