- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle, and spread minced garlic, herbs, and cheeses evenly over it.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seams to seal.
- Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough rises.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack before slicing.
