- 1 pound ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, diced carrots, and minced garlic; sauté until soft and aromatic, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground lamb or beef to the skillet. Cook until the meat is browned and no longer pink, then drain any excess fat. Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, frozen peas, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the creamy mashed potatoes evenly on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and slightly crisp.
