Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar in a bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy, then gradually add in the granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  3. Fold the sifted almond mixture into the whipped egg whites carefully.
  4. Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them sit for 30-60 minutes.
  5. Bake the macarons for 15-20 minutes until they are set.
  6. Cook the granulated sugar in a saucepan until it melts and turns golden, then slowly add the heavy cream while stirring.
  7. Pair macaron shells of similar size and fill them with caramel.
