Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but centers are soft. Let cool on a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat together cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Once cookies are cool, frost them generously with cream cheese frosting.
