Description

A unique dessert combining the chewy texture of pretzels with creamy whipped cheese, topped with caramel and chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • Coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture: In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dough: Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture, mixing to form a dough. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. Allow the dough to rise: Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered with a cloth, for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) while you prepare the pretzel shapes.
  5. Shape the pretzels: Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a rope, approximately 18 inches long, and twist into a pretzel shape.
  6. Boil the pretzels: Boil water and baking soda together in a large pot. Dip each pretzel shaped dough into the water for 30 seconds, then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Egg wash and salt: Brush the pretzels with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt to enhance the flavor.
  8. Bake the pretzels: Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
  9. Assemble the dessert bread: Once the pretzels have cooled, generously add layers of caramel sauce, whipped cream cheese, and chocolate chips on top.
  10. Slice and serve: Carefully slice your dessert bread and serve it warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Serve with extra caramel sauce or whipped cream for an enhanced experience.
