Description

A delightful homemade caramel corn that’s buttery, sweet, and addictively crunchy, perfect for sharing and nostalgic gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag of popcorn (unpopped or pre-popped)
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the popcorn according to the package instructions and set aside in a large bowl.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt, bringing to a gentle boil while stirring constantly.
  3. Let the mixture boil without stirring for 4-5 minutes, then remove from heat and quickly stir in baking soda and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and stir until evenly coated. Spread the popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 250°F (120°C) for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces and serving.

Notes

For an extra crunch, let the caramel corn cool completely before storing and consider adding nuts or M&Ms for variation.
