Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and salt. Set over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until soft peaks form, about 2-3 minutes.
- Once the sugar mixture reaches a vigorous boil, gently drizzle it into the whipped egg whites while continuing to beat on high speed until stiff peaks form and the frosting cools slightly.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and use immediately to frost cakes or cupcakes.
Notes
Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Re-whip before use for fluffiness.
