Description

A sweet and tangy mango chutney that pairs beautifully with various dishes.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe mangoes, diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the diced mangoes, onion, sugar, and vinegar.
  2. Add the minced ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chili powder, and salt to the mix.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mangoes are soft and the mixture thickens, about 20-30 minutes.
  4. Allow to cool, then store in sterilized jars in the refrigerator.
  5. Serve with curry, meats, or as a condiment to enhance any meal.
