- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Once the dough is ready, punch it down and spread it in a greased rectangular baking pan.
- Spread the crushed tomatoes over the dough, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
