Savory beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy, Homemade Salisbury Steak is a classic comfort dish that’s easy to prepare and sure to please.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon flour
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into oval patties.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the patties on both sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add mushrooms and sauté until softened. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir to combine.
- Gradually add beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer, then return the patties to the skillet. Cover and let simmer for 10-15 minutes until cooked through. Serve hot.
Notes
For a comforting meal, serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
