Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 cup milk (or non-dairy alternative)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted coconut oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped fruits (e.g., bananas, berries) or nuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until evenly combined.
- In another bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), milk (or non-dairy alternative), oil, and egg. Whisk until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped fruits or nuts to ensure an even distribution throughout the batter.

- Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
