Description

A nutritious twist on the classic banana bread, perfect for breakfast, snacks or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a large bowl and mix in honey or maple syrup, applesauce, and vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently. Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use plant-based yogurt instead of applesauce. You can also substitute half of the whole wheat flour with almond flour for a gluten-free alternative.
