- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for coating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat together the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat each ball in powdered sugar.
- Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom. If you like a spicier cookie, you can increase the ground spices.
