Description

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Royal icing (for decorating)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix thoroughly.
  3. Gradually add the flour mixture to form a dough. Divide the dough and color one part with green food coloring.
  4. Roll out the green dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut out tree shapes. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Once cooled, decorate with royal icing and sprinkles.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to one week. Freeze undecorated cookies for up to three months.
