Description

A delightful fresh fig jam that captures the essence of ripe figs, balanced with lemon and vanilla. Ideal for breakfast or as a gourmet gift.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh figs, stems removed and chopped
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 packet pectin (optional for thicker jam)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chopped figs, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir well to ensure all the ingredients are blended.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring often, until it comes to a rolling boil.
  3. If using pectin, follow the instructions on the packet for mixing it in at the right time. Boil the jam for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring frequently until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat and let the jam cool slightly. Pour the warm jam into sterilized jars and seal tightly.

Notes

For a gourmet touch, consider adding spices like cinnamon or ginger during cooking. Ensure jars are sterilized before filling.
