Description

A deliciously savory tart featuring caramelized onions and earthy mushrooms in a flaky puff pastry crust, topped with melty Gruyère cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 beaten egg, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Melt butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, add sliced onions, and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add sliced mushrooms, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper; cook until mushrooms are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment, spread the onion and mushroom mixture on it, and sprinkle cheese over the top.
  5. Fold the pastry edges slightly inward, brush with beaten egg, and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness.
