Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and gather all your ingredients.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract; gradually mix in dry ingredients.
  4. Roll dough into small balls and shape into footballs, about 2 inches long.
  5. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
  6. Once cooled, decorate with green and white icing to resemble footballs.
