Description

Irresistible turtle bars combining chocolate, caramel, and nuts for a sweet treat everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan—an 8×8 inch pan works beautifully for this recipe.
  2. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and slightly fluffy.
  3. Mix in the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, and salt until just combined.
  4. Press half of the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  5. Sprinkle an even layer of chocolate chips and chopped pecans over the base.
  6. Crumble the remaining oat mixture on top of the chocolate and nuts.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, great with vanilla ice cream or chocolate sauce.
