Description

Delightful soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls topped with creamy icing, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined. Pour this mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
  3. Stir until a dough forms, then turn it out onto a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the softened butter over the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and ground cinnamon evenly across the surface.
  6. Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from one long side. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces to create your rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased pan, cover them, and let rise for another 30 minutes until they puff up.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk to form a smooth icing.
  10. Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the icing over the warm rolls, allowing it to melt into the crevices.

Notes

Store any leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat by wrapping in foil and warming in the oven.
