- 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate, chopped
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Chocolate shavings or decorative eggs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks with sugar until pale and thick. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture until well combined.
- In another bowl, whip the cream with vanilla until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
- In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture until no streaks remain.
- Pour the mousse into a cake pan and chill for at least 4 hours or until set.
- Once set, garnish with chocolate shavings or decorative eggs before serving.

Serve chilled, garnished with a dusting of powdered sugar or fresh berries for added color.
