Description

A delightful sourdough bread combining tangy flavor with rich cocoa and chocolate chips, perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 350 g warm water
  • 475 g bread flour
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 125 g active sourdough starter
  • 11 g salt
  • 170 g chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and active sourdough starter until well mixed.
  2. Add the brown sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and bread flour; stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes or in a stand mixer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips gently until evenly distributed.
  5. Place the dough in a bowl, cover it, and let rise for about 2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  6. Deflate the dough gently, shape it into a loaf, and place seam-side down in a loaf pan.
  7. Cover the dough and let it rise for another hour while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
