- 6 medium apples, peeled and quartered
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- Pinch of salt
- Cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the granulated sugar, stirring until it begins to caramelize (about 10 minutes).
- Arrange the apple quarters in the skillet on top of the caramel and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt (add cinnamon if using).
- Roll out the puff pastry and place over the apples, tucking the edges in.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes, then invert onto a serving plate to reveal the apples on top.
