Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Red and green sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract thoroughly.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined; fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Divide the dough in half and shape into logs. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice chilled logs into cookies and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet; sprinkle with sprinkles if desired.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
