Description

A delightful combination of rich chocolate and sweet cherries, offering a beautifully presented and deliciously decadent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Spread the pitted cherries evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well to create a rich batter.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter over the cherries in the pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes, then invert the cake onto a serving plate to reveal the cherries.
