Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup chopped cherries
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Water, as needed for icing
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk until warm. Stir in the sugar and yeast, then let sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and cinnamon. Pour in the yeast mixture along with the softened butter. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread cream cheese and top with cherries. Roll tightly into a log.
- Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- For icing, mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough water for drizzling. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
