- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Mix together.
- Gradually add warm milk and olive oil to the mixture. Stir until a cohesive dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough into a large triangle shape on a floured surface.
- Cut out the tree shape using a knife or pizza cutter and use extra dough to create branches if desired.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the dough, fold and twist the branches.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
For best results, use freshly grated cheese and allow the dough to rise in a warm place.
