Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional)
Instructions

- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the brown butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar, mixing until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
