- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 4 cups chicken broth
- Fresh herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, parsley) for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Mix softened butter with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Pat the turkey dry and rub the butter mixture all over, including under the skin.
- Stuff the cavity with quartered onion and lemon.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom.
- Roast for 3 to 4 hours, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Baste every 30 minutes with pan juices.
- Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
