Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, ensuring each is mixed in well before adding the next.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, beating until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking pans, leaving space between each scoop. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until edges are golden-brown but centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Decorate with festive sprinkles, if desired.
