Description

A healthier take on the classic Southern dish, this Air Fryer Chicken Fried Steak combines crispy beef with creamy gravy without the guilt of deep frying.


Ingredients

  • 4 beef cube steaks
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Soak the steaks in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Remove the steaks from buttermilk, dredge in the flour mixture, pressing firmly.
  4. Lightly spray both sides of the coats steaks with cooking spray and place in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture. Make sure to press the flour mixture onto the steaks for a thicker crust.
