A healthier take on the classic Southern dish, this Air Fryer Chicken Fried Steak combines crispy beef with creamy gravy without the guilt of deep frying.

- 4 beef cube steaks
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Soak the steaks in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove the steaks from buttermilk, dredge in the flour mixture, pressing firmly.
- Lightly spray both sides of the coats steaks with cooking spray and place in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture. Make sure to press the flour mixture onto the steaks for a thicker crust.
